Desserts have always been woven into the fabric of my Southern heritage. From the sweet aroma of my grandmother’s famous strawberry pie to the indulgence of my dad’s red velvet cake and my auntie’s comforting egg custard, desserts have shaped who I am today.
Being born with a physical handicap kept me indoors most of my childhood, learning the art of baking from my grandmother. She would let me help mix cake batter or cut strawberries. I watched her make pie crusts and biscuits from scratch. That's where my love for baking blossomed.
In 2009, after facing a layoff from my corporate job, I turned to baking to make ends meet. What started as a necessity quickly transformed into a passion. Over 14 months, I immersed myself in the art of creating delectable desserts – cakes, pies, cookies, brownies, mousses and cobblers became my canvas. From humble beginnings selling treats from my kitchen, I progressed to bustling farmer’s markets and eventually fulfilled my dream of owning a 5-star bakery.
